How to speed up and simplify the preparation of goods for placement on online trading platforms? Our case for – a seller of spare parts for BMW cars – is about this.
95% of the company's sales are carried out online. This is more than 10,000 items. To automate and speed up the placement of new products on eBay, we developed a system with the eBay Commerce API, which increased the number of product posts from 15 to 100 per day.
Client story.
is a company specializing in the online sale of spare parts for BMW cars worldwide. For sales, the company uses the popular international eBay marketplace.
The company's product catalog includes more than 10,000 items. The more goods the manager publishes, the more profitable it is for business. The process of placing the goods consists of the following steps:
- photographing details and preparing images for posts;
- product description (filling in the title and description fields), delivery rates and much more;
- posting it on eBay.
When the customer contacted us, he formulated the main problems he faced:
- Platform buyers often search for products using the compatibility principle. For each spare part, the manager must enter information about car models this part is compatible with.
- The manager spends a lot of time searching and recording this information. Only then, the information is entered manually through the eBay interface.
Any manual work with large amounts of data is not only an irrational use of employee time, but also a high risk of error.
If the data and model compatibility are incorrect, this will lead to product returns and negative feedback. This will affect the reputation of the company, which is formed on such platforms precisely due to customer reviews.
Our solution.
As eBay has its own API, we can automate most of the manager's work. We offered to combine all the stages of creating and posting a product in a single system. This would allow users to automatically generate product cards and post them on eBay.
With the eBay Commerce API, we developed a unique system, which made the work of managers easier, and minimized the risk of errors.
The project took 2 months.

Login page
The system is designed for employees and administrator login. The Admin has full access to the functions, can add and remove managers from the system, and change access rights.
Control panel
All product data is displayed here. The manager creates a product card, uploads an image, writes a unique code the system finds and downloads all the details by. The stage of card formation for each product can be seen – draft or full readiness.

Products
In this section, products are formed as a list. Unfinished drafts (without information on compatibility data) or cards that are in the process of posting are marked with a spinning icon.
Let's clarify that posting a product via the eBay API takes time and consists of the following:
- Compatibility downloads. Each is downloaded separately;
- Image uploads (up to 10 pcs.);
- Generating HTML product descriptions.

Delivery rates
For each recipient country, the Admin enters the shipping costs. The system automatically enters them into the cards of each product on eBay.
Adding a new product
The manager fills in the product data and uploads the taken photos here.

Summary.
The created business system significantly accelerated the work of managers. It also made it more effective.
Before using the system, an employee published about 15 products per day. After that, the employee technically publishes about 100 products per day.
